What is Elbow Replacement Surgery?

Elbow Replacement Surgery involves the removal of damaged parts of the elbow joint and replacing them with artificial implants like metal and plastic. It is also known as elbow arthroplasty.

Types of Elbow Replacement Surgery

Linked (Semi-contained)- A hinge connects metal stems implanted into the humerus ends and the ulna.

Unlinked (Unconstrained)- Your joint tissue connects the metal stems in the humerus and the ulna.

Why it's done?

The elbow could be damaged for several reasons, typically ranging from arthritis to fractures. Usually, the damage from arthritis and fractures can be repaired with the help of surgeries. However, if the damage is too severe, elbow replacement surgery may be required.
